What does “healing” mean to you?
To me, healing is having the ability, and strength to overcome adversity as well as the ability to forgive.
What are your dreams for the future? What do you want to accomplish/achieve?
My goals, dreams for the future is to be able to earn all my rights as a citizen. Also continue to volunteer in the community and work for a nonprofit organization.
What is something you wish people knew about you?
I wish people knew how difficult and challenging it has been trying to become current with today’s technology. Also how much concern I have for our communities.
Have you ever felt like someone made assumptions about you, based on the fact that you were incarcerated? What were those assumptions? How do you challenge those?
I felt as though assumptions are always present. I was spoken at and not spoken to at a transitional facility. I took the liberty of trying to communicate with the person effectively. Person assumed i wasn’t being honest about the places I needed to go on my pass. After pass was granted, I returned with proof of my travels (i.e., social security office).
What is your favorite thing to do?
I enjoy peace of mind, serenity and meditation.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy athletics.
What is your favorite memory?
My favorite memory is being told I “no longer pose an unreasonable risk to public safety”.
What are your favorite qualities (in yourself)?
Having the ability to reason with others.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of remaining self conscious of others.
Who are your biggest role models?
My biggest role models are Nelson Mandela, MLK, and Obama.
What else would you like to say about yourself?
I’m truly rehabilitated (cured).

If I could describe UnCommon Law in one word: “incredible”.
