UnCommon Heroes

Centering Community:
A Celebration of Solidarity

Saturday, November 1st | 1-4 pm PT
The Bridge Yard, 210 Burma Rd
Oakland, CA 94607

After a challenging and turbulent year, we look forward with hope and gratitude to the moments that remind us of what’s possible through the power of community. This fall, on Saturday, November 1, from 1–4 p.m. at The Bridge Yard, we’ll gather once again for UnCommon Heroes — Centering Community: A Celebration of Solidarity.

UnCommon Heroes is a powerful gathering and homecoming where our community comes together to say “welcome home” to our former clients and others recently released from prison. It is a moment of celebration, reflection, and our shared commitment to building a justice system rooted in healing.

Meet Our 2025 Heroes

Amika Mota

Amika Mota

Executive Director of Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition

Amika has been advocating for reproductive justice and the rights of young mothers for over 25 years, as a teen mother and midwife. She began advocating for women in prison during her own incarceration, where she worked as a jailhouse lawyer, paralegal, firefighter, and mentor. As the executive director, Amika, in partnership with the active chapters of the Sister Warriors Freedom Coalition, leads efforts to implement policy and electoral strategies to shift power and drive local and statewide policy changes.

Tinisch Hollins

Executive Director of Californians for Safety and Justice

Tinisch is a trailblazing community organizer and policy advocate with decades of experience championing public safety and social justice. As a community organizer, Tinisch has spearheaded the implementation of community violence intervention initiatives in San Francisco, brokered collaborations between community stakeholders and local/state governments, and worked tirelessly to bring resources and opportunities to the communities most impacted by systemic inequities across California.

What does "Centering Community: A Celebration of Solidarity" mean?

For us, it’s about standing shoulder to shoulder with those who are system-impacted, recognizing our shared humanity, and committing to a justice system rooted in compassion, accountability, and collective healing. It’s a reminder that when we show up for each other, we build communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Ticket sales are open now, so reserve your spot today and be part of this year’s unforgettable celebration. We can’t wait to see you in November.
